WHOC recruit Mikayla Goodin
Name: Mikayla Goodin
Height: 5-5
Position: Forward
Hometown: Andover, Minnesota
Previous Team: Andover High School
Statistics: 23 G, 20 A, 43 PTS in 2013-14 high school season


Anticipated Major: Undeclared

About Mikayla: A potent scorer in high school, Goodin was part of Andover's state tournament team in 2014 and was chosen to the Minnesota State High School All-Tournament Team. A team captain, Goodin was a three-time All-Northwest Suburban Conference pick (2012, 2013, 2014).

Mikayla Says: "As I toured the campus and spoke with Coach Laughlin and Coach Stauber it didn't take me long to figure out that UW-Superior was the perfect place for me to attend college and continue my hockey career. The university has excellent academics, a great campus, and the hockey program and facilities are top-notch. I am very excited and honored to be a part of the Yellowjacket family."

Coach Laughlin Says: "Mikayla is an outstanding student-athlete that will bring added scoring depth to a returning power-filled forward line-up. We are very pleased to have her on board."

WHOC recruit Rebekah Hakk
Name: Rebekah Hakk
Height: 5-10
Position: Defense
Hometown: Moorhead, Minnesota
Previous Team: Moorhead High School
Statistics: 23 GP, 5 G, 7 A, 12 PTS in 2013-14 high school season


Anticipated Major: Exercise Science

About Rebekah: A five-year starter and three-year captain at Moorhead High School, Hakk was named an All-Section 8 defender in 2013 and 2014 as well as being named her team's MVP in 2012 and 2013. An honor student, Hakk was also a three-year varsity performer on Moorhead's soccer and track and field teams.

Rebekah Says: "Coach Laughlin impressed me from the moment I met him. His style, demeanor, knowledge, thoughtfulness, and vision are all things that attracted me to UW-Superior. Coach's desire to mold a championship team is so evident in the quality and high potential of the team that now sits under his leadership. I am so excited to be a part of an effort to be better, stronger, faster, and more skilled than all of our opponents. I will, with pride, wear the yellow and black of the Yellowjackets."

Coach Laughlin Says: "Rebekah will be a great addition to our blue line. She brings a very poised and controlled style of play and she also brings with her a high standard for academics."

WHOC recruit Maggie Cragg
Name: Maggie Cragg
Height: 5-3
Position: Center
Hometown: Champlin, Minnesota
Previous Team: Champlin Park High School
Statistics:  7 G, 11 A, 18 PTS in 2013-14 high school season

Anticipated Major: Physical Education


About Maggie:  A four-year letterwinner at Champlin Park, Cragg was her team's Rookie of the Year in 2011 and was all-conference honorable mention in 2013 and 2014. As a senior she received All-State honorable mention from the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Also played softball and volleyball for the Rebels.

Maggie Says: "I love the Twin Ports area and I knew I didn't want to attend a large university so UW-Superior was a good choice because it is small and has my major. It was even better when I was given the chance to play with the Yellowjacket hockey team."

Coach Laughlin Says: “Maggie brings a skilled, energetic style of play that will greatly enhance our line-up. We look forward to having her as a Yellowjacket."

WHOC recruit Kelly Cockerill
Name: Kelly Cockerill
Height: 5-8
Position: Forward
Hometown: Selkirk, Manitoba
Previous Team: Winnipeg Avros AAA
Statistics:  15G, 12A, 27 PTS in 2013-14 Midget AAA season

Anticipated Major: Broad Field Science


About Kelly:  A tenacious two-way forward who will bring size and grit to the Yellowjackets. Was part of the Top 40 Team Manitoba in 2013. Off the ice Cockerill is an honors graduate of Oak Park High School in Winnipeg.

Kelly Says: "I was extremely impressed with Coach Laughlin and Coach Stauber. I can't wait to play for them. And the UW-Superior campus is amazing."

Coach Laughlin Says: "Kelly brings a tenacious style of play that exemplisifes Yellowjacket Hockey, and she shares that same intensity in the classroom. We look forward to Kelly's contrbutions to our program."

WHOC Alexa Weiss
Name: Alexa Weiss
Height: 5-6
Position: Forward
Hometown: Sleepy Eye, Minnesota
Previous Team: New Ulm High School
Statistics:  16G, 20A, 36 PTS in 2013-14 Midget AAA season

Anticipated Major: Chemistry


About Alexa: A two-time all-conference player, Weiss appeared in five Minnesota State High School hockey tournaments with New Ulm. Was named team's Rookie of the Year as an 8th grader. Also received team MVP honors as a freshman and sophomore and Most Offensive Player honor as a junior.

Alexa Says: "I chose UW-Superior because of the small classroom size, together with the personalized professor to student committment to achieve academic success which gives me confidence that I can complete my chemistry degree. Also, after meeting with the coaching staff of the hockey team I was very impressed and eager to be a part of this talented team."

Coach Laughlin Says: "Lexie is a dynamic two-way player that will bring us both a strong offensive and defensive punch. She plays the game in all areas of the ice and will be a welcome addition to our team."

2134Name: Saige Patrick
Height: 5-7
Position: Defense
Hometown: Steinbach, Manitoba
Previous Team: St. Mary's Academy
Statistics:  9G, 13A, 22 PTS in 2013-14 Midget AAA season

Anticipated Major: Exercise Science


About Saige: Selected to be on Team Manitoba for Canadian Nationals after coming back from knee surgery. Placed third at the Female World School Sports Challenge with St.Mary's Academy team. Has extensive international experience.

Saige Says: "When I came to UW-Superior and met the coaches, I felt really welcomed and was impressed with the program. When I met some of the girls, they were super friendly and I felt like it was home away from home because of the Manitoba girls who were already on the team. I enjoyed the small campus along with the smaller classroom sizes and I felt like this school would be a good fit for me. It could be a place where I could excel in my academics and continue my hockey career. I’m excited to be a part of the Yellowjacket community."

Coach Laughlin Says: "Being a strong, solid, two-way player, Saige will be an outstanding addition to our blue line and provide a quality offense and defense skill set. We look forward to Saige becoming a Yellowjacket."

Height: 5-5
Position: Forward/Defense
Hometown: Elk River, Minnesota
Previous Team: Elk River High School
Statistics:  13G, 15A, 28 PTS in 2013-14 high school season

Anticipated Major: Science


About Emily: Captained her Elk River High School team as a senior and earned all-conference recognition. Lettered four times in hockey (2010-2014) and once in lacrosse for the Elks. Was an honor student and earned the Distinguished Academic Achievement Award all four years of high school.

Emily Says: "I’ve always had a love for the Twin Ports. I choose UW-Superior because of the campus size and number of students. After my tour I knew this was the right college for me.  Everyone is so friendly, class sizes are small and I feel like I belong here. Coach Laughlin and Coach Stauber took time to get to know me personally. I can’t wait to play hockey for two great coaches and be a part of an awesome Yellowjacket team."

Coach Laughlin Says: "Emily brings a determined and high-energy style of play and works extremely hard on and off the ice. We are looking forward to Emily's contributions in our line-up next season."
