Bicalho Season Statistics
ST. PAUL, Minn. (October 30, 2017) – After stat-stuffing performances over the last week, two Yellowjackets,
Emily VerWay (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) and
Fernando Bicalho (Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil/Kickapoo (Mo.)), received UMAC Player of the Week honors.
Junior VerWay put on another masterful performance from the setter position as the volleyball team won two and lost one over the past week. In two important conference wins over Northland and North Central, VerWay racked up 97 assists, averaging 10.7 assists per set. VerWay was also able to nab a double-double in all three of the contests, getting 48 assists and 18 digs over Northland, 49-14 against North Central, and 46-14 in the loss to Hamline.
Junior forward Bicalho was able to help Superior to two conference, shutout wins over Northland and Minnesota Morris in their final two regular-season contests. Bicalho scored three goals over the two games and added an assist against Northland to accumulate seven points over the week. Bicalho has played in 19 contests for the 'Jackets this season and has 15 points on the year.
Both teams will compete in UMAC semifinal games this Wednesday, Nov. 1, as the men's soccer team takes on Northwestern at 4 p.m. at home in the NBC Sports Complex, while the volleyball team travels to Minnesota Morris to play the Cougars at 7 p.m.
